The high school basketball schedule is starting to get a whole lot more interesting with schools getting into conference play.
A few of the smaller conferences have already seen league action. Among those, the Santiam Christian boys are off to a good start in the PacWest and remained unbeaten Tuesday night with a 43-40 win over Blanchet Catholic up in Salem.
The two schools entered the game with perfect records in the conference and the game was a good one. The Eagles came up with big shots late. Grant Schroeder and Micah Ropp hit back-to-back 3-pointers with under 4 minutes to play  to give SC some breathing room.
Schroeder ended up with 22 of his team’s 43 points. Yep, that’s more than half of the Eagles’ offense.
So, SC goes to 4-0 in the conference and will head to Salem Academy on Friday. You never know what will happen on the road, but the Eagles will be favored to win again.
